Green Smoothie Recipe For Healthy Hair & Skin

After completing the 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse, I felt like I was on top of the world! Still do! It has a been a few days, and I still have green smoothies everyday as part of my "new" health and fitness journey (for the 50-11th time---let's hope this one sticks). Aside from dropping a few pounds and inches from my frame, I noticed that my hair and skin had become more radiant than usual. My eczema, which usually only budges with the use of topical steroid creams, disappeared on its own. I'm sure that it's partially because my diet has been free of gluten, which is a trigger for me.
Aside from the recipes in the 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse book, I've discovered my own recipe for radiant skin and luscious hair, amongst other health benefits. This smoothie is packed with vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, fiber, protein and antioxidants.
2 cups of coconut water, purified water, almond milk, OR unsweetened green tea (switch it up!)
1/2 cup of aloe vera juice
2 handfuls of spinach
2 leaves of lacinto/dinosaur kale (stems removed)
1/2 cucumber, diced
1/2 tsp of ginger root (peeled and minced)
1 cup of frozen mixed berries
1 cup of frozen pineapple
1/2 cup fresh mango
2 tbsps of ground flaxseed or chia seeds
1/2 tsp of unsweetened nut butter, hemp protein, maca root powder, or whey protein
**1 packet of stevia, honey, or agave nectar **Optional**
Add liquid and greens to the blender and liquify the greens first. Then add the rest of the ingredients and blend until creamy. The frozen fruit helps to make it cold without having to use ice, which may water it down. This recipe yields 2.5 to 3 cups of a 12-16 oz. smoothie. Drink as a meal replacement or have it as a snack. Refrigerate remaining portions until you're ready for them. Happy blending!
